This is a wonderful book!
This is a great book! My son is 9 years old and went to India a couple of years ago. This book vividly brought back all his memories. What I liked best was that even though it is not written by an Indian, it is so authentic. The illustrations are just great! I highly recommend it.

Very accessible translation of heartfelt poems
These very emotion pact and often humorous poems are translated into very accessible english. I am using this book with my English literacy student who is a native speaker of Urdu. She is pleased with the translations. Note the "original" script used opposite the English translations is in Hindi, not Urdu.

The Antiquities of Asia: A Translation With Notes of Book II of the Library of History of Diodorus Siculus
Published in Hardcover by Transaction Pub (April, 1989)
Authors: Edwin William Murphy and Siculus Diodorus
Average review score:

A felicitous and accurate translation, with wonderful notes.
It's a shame that Diodorus Siculus isn't as well known to the reading public as Herodotus or Thucydides, for his compendius Library of History, of which this is a translation of volume II (on Assyria, Scythia, India, Arabia, and other ancient Asiatic kingdoms). Diodorus is the only ancient historian, for example, who has his facts straight about the fall of the Assyrian Empire. This is a great translation, long over due, and belongs in the library of all who are interested in ancient History. The notes alone are worth the price of the book, and the plates are keyed to the text to make it come alive

an outstanding survey of a neglected area in the art world
This scholarly work covers a long neglected area in the art world. Southern India and the contribution of Islamic art to this region has had insufficient attention over the years. Here we have renowned experts surveying the area with great skill. A book that will give great joy and value to scholars and the general reader alike.

Arise Arjuna : Hinduism and the modern world
Published in Unknown Binding by Voice of India ()
Author: David Frawley
Average review score:

A must-read for everyone interested in Hinduism
Arise arjuna is an extremely well written book.I use the phrase well written not just because of the accuracy of the facts, but also for the in-depth understanding the author shows about the economic and political factors prevalent in India. I have read many books on various religion and a number of books on Hinduism.Arise arjuna impressed me because it looks at religion taking into consideration the social, economic and political equations. As a resident of India and a practicing Hindu, the book did not hold any surprises for me,but i would recommend it to any person who wants to learn more about India and Hinduism, along with the current scenario of Hinduism in the modern world.

Excellent
This is an excellent book, written by a very knowledgable and good teacher. I was lucky enough to take a class from him, and from what I have seen of his book, it is just as a fantastic survey of art in India as the class was.

The Arthashastra
Published in Paperback by Penguin India (01 January, 1992)
Author: Kautalya
Average review score:

Comprehensive!
This is a good translation of the original manuscripts. Though you may find a few typos, overall I think the writer (former Indian ambassador L. N. Rangarajan) did a very good job. A must if you have any interest in politics or are simply frustrated with the current society and governments. There is a lot to learn from the ancient principles of Chanakya Vishnu Gupt (also known as Kautilya). A must buy (if you can find it).
