Everest: The Unclimbed Ridge
Published in Hardcover by W.W. Norton & Company (July, 1984)
Authors: Chris Bonington and Charles Clarke
Average review score:

If you can find a copy, go for it!
Heart-breaking, tense and on some level maddening, this is the story of Pete Boardman and Joe Tasker's last expedition. Copious quotes, especially from Pete's diary, give it its emotionally touching quality. Bonington chillingly describes the survivors' long wait and gradual realization that something has gone terribly wrong. No one really knows what happened to Boardman and Tasker, especially since their bodies were later found, indicating they were not killed in a fall as Bonington surmised. This book cannot illuminate the mystery, but can illustrate the magnitude of our loss.

Facets of Spirituality
Published in Paperback by South Asia Books (01 July, 1986)
Authors: Swami Krishnananda and S. Bhagyalakshmi
Average review score:

A Genius in Philosophy
Facets of Spirituality is a kaleidoscopic profile of Swami Krishnananda in all his many manifestation--informally, as friend and companion to his disciples; more formally as teacher and guide to his votaries; and most majestically as a philosopher of profound depth and wisdom.

Swami Krishnananda is a multifaceted personality which like a diamond shines in every facet wherever he speaks or writes. His mind has absorbed all aspects of spirituality and the clarity of his vision enables him to meet the spiritual needs of all grades of seekers on the Path. This book aims at conveying something of the personality and revelations of Swami Krishnananda through his informal interviews, formal discourses, and expositions on the practical philosophy of life as lived here and now. The dialogues and discourses compiled here constitute but a sample of the inexhaustible stock of knowledge and wisdom which His Holiness has gained over a lifetime of reading, writing and expounding both Vedic Truths and other, including Western, philosophical systems.

Facets of the Diamond: Wisdom of India

Powerful images bring Indian Saints alive on every page
This is not your average book on Indian masters. While the introduction and biographies set the tone for entire work, it is the photos and accompanying quotes which make this book an actual artifact. The context is one of recognition that a spiritual master is not just a teacher, in the usual sense of someone who imparts knowledge. A master is understood to be one who embodies that knowledge/wisdom, and transmits this state in a non-verbal, immediate fashion to their devotees. It is this special relationship between master and devotee which is beautifully captured in the book as whole. Very tastefully done.

Family Business in India
Published in Hardcover by Sage Publications (May, 1997)
Author: Sudipt Dutta
Average review score:

The only book on this topic. Interesting and informative.
Sudipt Dutta's book on Family Businesses in India is well-researched and well-written. It is perhaps the only book on the specific topic of family businesses in India, despite what a common phenomenon they are there, and it is a useful reference for anyone studying or interested in family-owned companies in Asia.
